About

Moyie/Lumberton Falls

A short adventure leading to one of the area’s most impressive waterfalls.

Moyie/Lumberton Falls is a quick 2 km roundtrip hike that rewards visitors with a powerful waterfall cascading down the river. The route begins along a gravel road before requiring a bit of rock hopping and shallow water crossings to reach the base of the falls. Water levels change throughout the year, offering a slightly different experience each time you visit.

In the warmer months, the area is a popular spot for a picnic or a place to cool off beside the flowing water — all within about a 20-minute walk from the parking area.

How to Get There

From Cranbrook, head south on Highway 3/95 toward Creston for approximately 13 km. Turn right onto Lumberton Road and continue along the well-maintained gravel road for just over 7 km. Turn left into a small parking lot and continue down to the trailhead. The trail begins behind a yellow gate.

Please Note

Lumberton Falls (also known as Moyie Falls) is accessed through a privately owned active mining claim, and the road past the gate is maintained annually by the owners. A less invasive trail follows the right side of the river and offers a view of the falls from above. During periods of high water, close access to the falls may be restricted. Please use caution.
