April 22 | 2:30 am – 4:30 pm
Celebrate Earth Day at Turtle Day 2026 at Elizabeth Lake in Cranbrook.
Hosted by the Fish & Wildlife Compensation Program and the Rocky Mountain Naturalists, this free, family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity to learn about the at-risk western painted turtle. See hatchlings shortly after emerging from their nests, speak with naturalists, and discover how these turtles survive and thrive in their environment.
Visitors can also learn about the diverse wildlife that calls Elizabeth Lake home. The event begins with a welcome from Nasuʔkin Joe Pierre Jr. at 2:30 pm.
This is a great opportunity to connect with nature and explore one of the most biodiverse regions in Canada
