Mount Baker Trail Network

A challenging mountain biking experience with technical descents and scenic climbs above Cranbrook.

Mount Baker is home to a small but exciting trail network popular with experienced mountain bikers and outdoor enthusiasts. The system includes three main trails that combine for a rewarding ride featuring a steady climb and fast, technical downhill descents. Starting from the Mount Baker Downhill parking area, riders typically climb east along the Mount Baker Hill Climb access trail before descending the steeper trails on the west side of the mountain.

The Mount Baker Hill Climb is the primary access route, stretching roughly 8 km up the mountain. This singletrack trail is commonly used by mountain bikers, hikers, and trail runners, offering a steady ascent through forested terrain. It provides access to the higher sections of the mountain and connects riders to the downhill trails.

From the upper sections, riders can descend via two black diamond trails: Mount Baker Downhill and Baker Death Grip. Mount Baker Downhill is a 7 km singletrack descent that typically takes about 50 minutes to complete, featuring fast sections and technical terrain suited for advanced riders. For an even more technical challenge, Baker Death Grip offers steep downhill riding with loose shale, rock gardens, and classic old-school technical features that demand skill and control.
